DEPOE BAY, Ore. — Two Oregon men died after their boat capsized off the Oregon Coast near Depoe Bay.

Oregon State Police on Saturday identified the men as 81-year-old James William Warren of McMinnville and 69-year-old Robert Lawrence Zimmel of Forest Grove.

The U.S. Coast Guard says a boater called just before 5 p.m. Friday to report finding a capsized vessel with debris in the water.

The Coast Guard says a Depoe Bay boat crew recovered an unresponsive person, Zimmel, while a helicopter crew spotted a second person, Warren, who was also unresponsive. The boat crew recovered Warren’s body as well.

Authorities say Warren and Zimmel were the only two aboard the boat and it’s not clear why it capsized. Warren was the registered owner of the boat.

Depoe Bay is southwest of Portland, Oregon.
