NEWARK, Del. — Delaware police are investigating a single-car wreck in Newark that killed the driver.

Police say the wreck occurred just before 4 a.m. on Sunday when the driver of a Mercedes traveling southbound on Delaware Route 72 drifted into the median and struck a cement wall. The car rebounded off the wall and came to a stop in the median, where it caught fire. First responders extinguished the blaze and transported the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
