NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk police say a young man drowned in the waters off the shore of Ocean View Beach.

Police say dispatchers received a call for a possible drowning at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday in a bay at East Ocean View and Warwick Avenue. Police say paramedics responded and began searching for the man. Police say they found him in the water shortly after, and rushed him to shore. The man was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but later died. He has been identified as 19-year-old Christopher Joyner.
