AMELIA COURTHOUSE, Va. — Virginia police say an elderly woman was killed in a car wreck in Amelia County.

Police say the wreck occurred on Thursday just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of routes 609 and 636 when 74-year-old Charlotte Batchelor ran a stop sign and collided with a Toyota.

Police say Batchelor was flown by helicopter to a local hospital where she died of her injuries. Police say she was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Toyota and his passenger were also taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
