FONTANA, Calif. — A baby that was inside a car when it was stolen in Southern California has been found safe and the man suspected in the theft has been arrested.

Police say a woman left her car running Monday as she went into a Chipotle in Fontana, 60 miles east of Los Angeles.

Fontana Officer Jay Sayegh (SAY’-j) says the woman was watching the car when a man jumped in.

The woman screamed that there was a baby inside but Sayegh says the man took off anyway, driving the wrong way against traffic until he was out of sight.

The man was arrested without incident soon after and the baby was found safe inside the car. The baby was reunited with its mother before being taken to a hospital as a precaution.
