NEW ORLEANS — Authorities say a man has been taken into custody after a shooting outside of a Louisiana nightclub wounded four people.

News outlets report 31-year-old Lionel Cheneau was arrested Sunday and charged with attempted second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery by shooting.

A New Orleans police news release says an argument between Cheneau and a man at the nightclub’s bar spilled into the parking lot. Cheneau grabbed a gun from his vehicle and fired, striking the man along with three women standing in a nearby group. The victims were listed in stable condition.

Sometime later, authorities say Cheneau flagged down Louisiana State Police troopers and told them unknown shooters had shot him. Authorities say he confessed to his involvement in the shooting.

It’s unclear if Cheneau has a lawyer.
