MILLBROOK, Ala. — A central Alabama man is charged with the attempted murder of two police officers after shooting at them early Saturday morning.

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson tells the Montgomery Advertiser that Ja’Queon Latreel Reason, 18, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.

Reason was jailed without bail Monday in Elmore County. Records show Reason doesn’t have an attorney.

Johnson says Reason was arrested Sunday after a suspicious vehicle was reported. Reason was carrying a handgun that was reported stolen Friday in the Montgomery suburb.

Officers were chasing a stolen car early Saturday when it backed up and hit a police car. Johnson says Reason shot at officers from the stolen car, getting away when officers couldn’t continue the chase.
