NORFOLK, Va. — Authorities say a Virginia teenager has drowned after being pulled from a bay.

News outlets report police were called to a possible drowning around 6:30 p.m. in the bay at East Ocean View and Warwick Avenues.

Norfolk police spokeswoman Jo Ann Hughes says first responders found 19-year-old Christopher Joyner in the water and rushed him to shore. Medics took the victim to Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Joyner was pronounced dead a short time later.
