MOBILE, Ala. — A new bike path is the latest step in making the coastal Alabama city of Mobile more bicycle-friendly.

WALA-TV reports that the path next to Three Mile Creek near Mobile’s Tricentennial Park is part of a bike trial that will eventually loop around the city.

Cyclist Jeff DeQuattro, of the Delta Bike Project, has been a leading advocate to make Mobile more bike-friendly. He says the new trail means a new opportunity for recreation in the city.

Interest in bicycling in Mobile appears to be up.

Downtown business owner, Matthew Golden, has been promoting Wednesday night rides for the last three years. At first, there were only a few rider. Now, close to 100 are showing up.
