WILMINGTON, N.C. — A convicted sex offender in North Carolina faces multiple child sex charges.

The StarNews of Wilmington reports that New Hanover County jail records show 46-year-old John Anthony Massengale was arrested Monday and charged on six counts, including two counts of statutory rape/sexual offense involving a victim who was six years of age or older and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.

His bail was set at $1.5 million. No further details were available. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.

Sex offender registry records show Massengale was required to register as a sex offender for at least 10 years following a 2012 conviction after he was arrested in December 2010 for recording an underage teen girl in a bathroom.
