BRIDGETON, N.J. — Authorities have released the names of two New Jersey Corrections Department staffers who died in an apparent murder-suicide in the home where they lived.

But a motive for the violence remains under investigation.

Officers found the bodies of 43-year-old Joseph Williams and 45-year-old Stephanie Myers in the basement of their Bridgeton home on Saturday night. They had gone there after receiving calls from a concerned family friend.

Williams was a senior investigator at Southern State Correctional Facility, while Myers was a senior corrections officer at Bayside State Prison.

Authorities say it appears that Williams shot Myers and then turned the gun on himself.
