LUBBOCK, Texas — Two men already in prison are being accused of a slaying more than five years ago in Lubbock.

Lubbock police say 25-year-old Terrence Shelby and 24-year-old Lester Lee Patterson have been named in murder warrants for the July 2012 fatal shooting of Travondrick Ward. Ward was found with a gunshot wound, lying on a road. He was pronounced dead later at a Lubbock hospital.

Police said Tuesday investigators have been actively working the case and were able to gather enough evidence to secure the warrants against the pair.

Shelby is in a federal prison in Colorado, serving a nearly nine-year sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Patterson is in a Texas prison, serving up to five years for robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
