FREEHOLD, N.J. — An investigation launched in response to a spike in shootings in three Monmouth County communities has resulted in 29 arrests.

Operation Lights Out targeted reputed members and associates of the Long Branch-based “G-Shine” set of the Bloods street gang. The shootings took place in Long Branch, Asbury Park and Neptune Township.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office says the nine-month investigation revealed the organization distributed approximately 150 to 200 grams of powder and crack cocaine a week with an estimated street value of $225,000. Prosecutors say it also distributed approximately 250 packets of heroin per week with an estimated street value of $22,500.

The charges range from racketeering to weapons and narcotics possession.
