FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Latest on a three-vehicle crash in Flagstaff (all times local):
Police say a Flagstaff man who crashed into two vehicles late Wednesday, sending several people to the hospital, was drunk.
Tito Whiterock was arrested for driving under the influence and fleeing from a police officer.
Flagstaff police spokesman Sgt. Cory Runge said Thursday that Whiterock’s black car matched the description of a vehicle reported in a drive-by shooting. It’s unclear if Whiterock was involved. No one was hurt.
Runge says an officer saw Whiterock and his passenger late Wednesday at a local park with beer in their hands before they sped off. Police say they later spotted Whiterock driving recklessly through a neighborhood and tried to pull him over.
Police say the 30-year-old Whiterock fled again and later crashed into another car and a truck U.S. 89 in east Flagstaff.
Authorities say several people, including an unconscious woman, were transported to the hospital late Wednesday following a three-vehicle crash in east Flagstaff.
Flagstaff police Sgt. Todd Bishop says the driver of a sedan rear-ended a dark-colored car traveling north on U.S. 89, sending it onto the sidewalk. He says the driver of the sedan then crossed over into the southbound lanes and hit a red pickup truck.
Bishop says police earlier had been pursuing the driver, who fled from authorities at least twice.
Debris was scattered throughout the area. A headlight and other car parts were tossed down the highway, and the smell of gasoline filled the air.
Bishop says the woman in the first car hit was unconscious.
Authorities are working to re-create the scene to figure out exactly what happened.
