FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Authorities say several people, including an unconscious woman, were transported to the hospital late Wednesday following a three-vehicle crash in east Flagstaff.

Flagstaff police Sgt. Todd Bishop says the driver of a sedan rear-ended a dark-colored car traveling north on U.S. 89, sending it onto the sidewalk. He says the driver of the sedan then crossed over into the southbound lanes and hit a red pickup truck.

Bishop says police earlier had been pursuing the driver, who fled from authorities at least twice.

Debris was scattered throughout the area. A headlight and other car parts were tossed down the highway, and the smell of gasoline filled the air.

Bishop says the woman in the first car hit was unconscious.

Authorities are working to re-create the scene to figure out exactly what happened.
