Robert H. “Babe” Everroad, 78, died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.

Robert was born April 27, 1939, in Columbus, the son of Paul H. and Alma E. Williams Everroad.

He graduated from Columbus High School in 1958 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served from 1958 to 1962 then enlisted in the Reserves from 1962 to 1964. He worked for Cummins Engine Company for 30 years, retiring in 1992.

He loved bowling, NASCAR racing and, in earlier times, fishing with his young sons.

He will be missed by his sons, grandchildren and sisters, known affectionately as “Babe”.

He is survived by sons, Terry Everroad, Mike and Jeff Neville; grandchildren, Aaron Everroad and Natasha Dampier; 3 great-grandchildren, sisters, Charlene Luker, Alice Weddle, Joan (Jack) Allman and Emily Fowler; several nieces and nephews; and former wives, Linda Neville Everroad and Peggy Everroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve Everroad; brothers, Dallas and Paul E. Everroad; and a sister, Blanche Christian.

There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard at 4:00 p.m.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation will follow.
