RUTLAND, Vt. — Officials say the former mayor of Rutland, Vermont is now working for a union that represents public employees.
Jim Durkin, representative for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, tells The Rutland Herald (http://bit.ly/2x2n7jq ) Christopher Louras is working as a staff representative for the union.
Durkin did not say when Louras was hired, but he says the former mayor will be negotiating and servicing contracts. Durkin says Louras will not be working on cases in Rutland.
Louras lost his run for a sixth term in March to Board of Alderman Member David Allaire. The former mayor attributes the loss to his support for a plan to bring 100 Syrian and Iraqi refugees to the city.
