‘Columbus’ movie hot spots

The Columbus Visitors Center has compiled a map to help ‘Columbus’ movie fans revisit where the movie was filmed last summer and explore how the city is visually depicted on the big screen.

Included are several buildings that make character Casey’s top 10 list of favorite buildings in Columbus, and at least one that isn’t one of her favorites.

  1. Inn at Irwin Gardens

608 Fifth St.

Movie scenes: Jim in his father’s room, Jim and Casey talk in the hallway/bedroom and the walkway on the east side of the library where Jin and Casey first meet. On Casey’s top 10 list.

2. Bartholomew County Public Library

536 Fifth St.

Movie scenes: Casey re-stacking books, various locations where Casey and Gabriel work

3. First Christian Church

531 Fifth St.

Movie scenes: Jin’s father collapses, Jin contemplates his father downstairs near pillars, Casey and Jin talk about architectecture. On Casey’s top 10 list.

4. Irwin Conference Center

500 Jackson St.

Movie scenes: A tour walks by on the south side while Jin and Casey talk on the west side. On Casey’s top 10 list.

5. Mill Race Park

50 Carl Miske Drive

Movie scenes: At the Saitowitz Tower, Jin and Casey talk about architecture and Mill Race history. At the round lake, Jin and Casey sit on the bench facing the covered bridge. They then walk through the covered bridge and discuss their families.

6. Columbus City Hall

123 Washington St.

Movie scenes: On the front exterior stairs, Jin and Casey discuss Casey’s options. Casey notes this is not one of her favorites. Also in one of the closing shots of the film, Jin realizes the significance of the building’s cantilevered arms.

7. Mental Health Center

2975 Lincoln Park Drive

Movie scenes: Jin and Casey discuss the building and the architect, James Stewart Polshek. On Casey’s top 10 list.

8. North Christian Church

850 Tipton Lane

Movie scenes: Jin and Casey walk through the trees facing St. Bartholomew Church, and tour the building continuing a discussion about architecture and Casey’s options.

9. First Financial Bank

707 Creekview Drive

Movie scenes: Jin and Casey visit at night and Casey talks about her mother’s history and how this building was so important to her during a tough upbringing. Casey lists this building as her No. 1 on her top 10 list.

10. Southside Elementary School

Movie scenes: Jin and Casey sneak into the school late at night.
