MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is launching an advertising push on behalf of Sen. Luther Strange in Alabama’s heated U.S. Senate race.
The Chamber announced Friday that it will air ads on behalf of Strange and is sending mail pieces that feature an endorsement from Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby.
The effort is in partnership with the Business Council of Alabama.
Strange is in a tight GOP primary race with former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ former Senate seat. Moore led Strange by about 25,000 votes in the first round of balloting. The Republican runoff is Sept. 26.
Rob Engstrom, national political director of the Chamber, called Strange a “conservative who is laser focused on governing” and criticized Moore’s support from trial lawyers
