2 jailed after hiding in hotel under construction

Two local men were arrested after Columbus police found them hiding inside a west side hotel that is under construction.

Police were sent to the Fairfield Inn, 2820 Merchant’s Mile, at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday about a report of suspicious people inside a construction site, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The officers set up a perimeter and with the assistance of Columbus Police Department canines found the two individuals hiding on the fourth floor of the hotel, Harris said.

The two were identified as Ross L. Shireman, 38, of 5180 W. County Road 450S; and Justin W. Moss, 48, of 2070 Kingdom Drive, Harris said.

Shireman was arrested on a Level 5 felony burglary charge, Harris said. Moss too was arrested on a Level 5 felony burglary charge and also on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and a Bartholomew County warrant.

Moss and Shireman are being held without bond at the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
