Children invited to make poster for Fire Prevention Week

The Columbus Fire Department is seeking entries for its fire prevention poster contest for children 12 and younger, which coincides with Fire Prevention Week.

This year’s theme is “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”

Fire Prevention Week will be observed Oct. 8 to 14.

Posters should be on 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch paper and reflect the theme. Entrants may use pen, pencil, colored pencil, crayon or paint for the poster, and should include their name, age and telephone number on the back.

Posters may be dropped off at the Columbus Fire Department administration office, 1101 Jackson St., between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Deadline for submission is 4 p.m. Oct. 4.

The winning poster will be announced Oct. 5. The winner receives five tickets to Holiday World & Splashing Safari, courtesy of White River Broadcasting Co.
