Robert E. ‘Bob’ Rogers

WESTPORT

Robert E. “Bob” Rogers, 73, of Westport, passed away at 11:47 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

He was born on October 30, 1943, in Jennings County, the son of Eligah and Margie Marie (Carnes) Rogers. He was born and raised in Jennings County and has lived in Westport and Sardinia areas since 1965. He graduated from Jennings County High School in 1961.

Bob retired from Cummins Engine Company in February 1999 after 37 years of service and was a sub bus driver for Decatur County Community Schools. He had served with the Indiana National Guard for 6 years. He enjoyed coon hunting, mushroom hunting and fishing.

He married Judith K. Land in Elizabethtown on July 24, 1965 and she survives. Other survivors include his mother, Margie Rogers of North Vernon; his sons, Dwayne Rogers of Westport and Chad Rogers of Columbus; his grandchildren, Nona Rogers and Tristan Rogers, both of Columbus; and his sister, Sharon Marie (Rick) Shaffer of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his daughter, Teresa Dawn Rogers.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. The burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with National Guard Honors.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
