Marcia Ann Douglas

Marcia Ann Douglas, 82, of Bloomington, passed away September 13, 2017, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Marcia was born April 1, 1935, in Madison, Indiana, the daughter of William P. and Beatrice Glore Douglas.

She graduated from Columbus High School in 1953 and retired from Cummins Engine Company after 43 years of service. Marcia was a world traveler and loved writing poetry, drawing, photography, and growing flowers.

The funeral will be conducted graveside at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include her sister, Joyce Douglas Danielson of Bloomington; nephews, Keith (Martha) Danielson and Ross Danielson; nieces, Kari (Matt) Lordier and Susan Sharpe; a cousin, Earl R. Douglas; five great-nieces and -nephews; and her beloved cat, Molly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert “Bob” Douglas and Richard Douglas; brother-in-law, Mike Danielson; sister-in-law, Ruby Douglas; and a niece, Lori Ann Douglas.

She was a very giving soul and a loving daughter, sister and aunt.

“I was inland born and it seems so wrong for I so love the sea. Why should the distance be so long between the sea and me?”
