Letter: Don’t let self become more important than God

From: Sandra Hoover

Hope

Our society has been changing throughout the ages, sometimes for good, sometimes not so much. I have been concerned for a while about some of our churches and families in Christ. Some have slowly forgotten how God wants to be worshipped. Unless we become reborn like a child, we can’t enter the gates of heaven, and “Unless you turn and become like children you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 18:3-4)

We have let pride wipe out worship as God wants. We have let self become more important than God. Some have forgotten God wants open praise with hands raised to him. Some have forgotten the altar isn’t a decoration but a place to humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness and submit our pleas to him openly.

Some have forgotten to be a Christian child means love of God first and the emotion that involves before anything else. Some churches and individuals have done away with this. Some pastors have become more like teachers where emotion isn’t allowed or where it is something feared. But what does God want?
