TUPELO, Miss. — A Mississippi attorney accused of smuggling contraband into a jail has been arrested.

News outlets report Jeffrey Waldo was arrested Tuesday and charged with introducing contraband into a correctional facility. The arrest was made shortly after the Lee County Sheriff’s Department revealed in a Facebook post that Waldo was wanted.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says Waldo is accused of bringing several banned items to the Lee County Adult Jail while meeting with his client Friday. Corrections officers later found the items while searching the inmate.

The type of contraband has not been revealed.

It’s unclear if Waldo has a lawyer.
