CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has been shot to death in North Carolina in a case that police say was the result of a domestic dispute.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police spokeswoman Cindy Wallace said in a news release that officers were called to a domestic disturbance shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers found 29-year-old William Jerome Rann Jr. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers.

Twenty-nine-year-old Michael Norman Smith has been arrested and charged with murder. Police think the men are related but have not explained how.

Officers say no other suspects are being sought. It was not known if Smith has an attorney yet.
