KINGSTON, N.Y. — Kingston and the Bronx Civic Center in the South Bronx are the two newest winners of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s downtown revitalization contest.

The Democratic governor announced the funding on Wednesday. It is intended to pay for improvements and upgrades to make the winning communities’ downtown neighborhoods more appealing to residents, business owners and visitors alike.

More than 100 communities around the state entered the contest, now in its second year. Winners already announced this year include Rome, Watkins Glen, Hudson and the Long Island community of Hicksville.
