SENECA, S.C. — An automotive parts supplier plans to expand its South Carolina plant and add 160 jobs by the end of the year.
BorgWarner Inc. said Wednesday it will spend nearly $72 million to expand its Seneca plant. It will be the company’s fourth expansion in five years.
The Upstate Alliance says the expansion comes after the automotive supplier acquired new business The company makes transfer cases that are a part of the drivetrain for all-wheel drive vehicles.
Its products are used in passenger cars and light trucks as well as commercial vehicles and those serving the off-highway, construction and agricultural markets.
The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits and awarded $850,000 to Oconee County to help with the costs of construction and other infrastructure improvements.
