Vernice L. Arnholt

Vernice L. Arnholt, 99, of Columbus, Indiana, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Groveland, Illinois.

Vernice dedicated her life to serving Jesus Christ and served Him in many ways. This included teaching children (beginning with her own) and volunteering in various church ministries. She was a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Arnholt was quick to show hospitality through her love of cooking and gardening.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Chapel Christian Union Church, 9435 Indiana S.R. 7 in Elizabethtown, Indiana. Friends and family may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Clifty.

Vernice was born on Nov. 1, 1917, in Newbern, Indiana to Frank and Ida Romine Wilson. She married Edwin Arnholt on April 8, 1945, at Wilson Chapel Christian Union Church. Survivors include her daughters, Karen (John) Brunner of Franklin, North Carolina, Marybelle (Dave) Miller of Lincoln, Nebraska and Janet (Joe) Weyer of Groveland, Illinois; brothers, Owen (Carol) Wilson of Westport, Indiana, Paul (Vera) Wilson of Elizabethtown, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Arnholt was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin (June 29, 2002); sons, Marshall Edwin Arnholt, Milton Wayne Arnholt; brothers, Amith, Shirley, Keith and Lorel Wilson; sisters, Louise Davis, Ivis Reed and Dolores Macdonald. Arrangements entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
