VOLLEYBALL

Bull Dogs win in five

MARTINSVILLE — Columbus North battled back from a two-set deficit to pull out a 21-25, 26-28, 25-10, 26-24, 15-13 win at Martinsville.

Agustina Fainguersch pounded 10 kills, Lily Meyercord recorded 35 assists, Gabby Genth had eight blocks, Maddy Sebahar notched 18 digs and Sophie McKinney served six aces to lead the Bull Dogs (11-8).

Fainguersch added four blocks and 17 digs, and Lauryn James had nine kills and two blocks. Katie McAnich pounded eight kills, Carley Finke tallied eight digs, Meyercord served four aces and Emma Tynan added three aces.

Olympians fall in four

FLOYDS KNOBS — Columbus East won the first set, but Floyd Central rallied for a 28-30, 25-10, 25-18, 25-10 Hoosier Hills Conference win.

Kendal Williams led the Olympians (6-13, 4-2) with 28 assists and 14 digs. Rilee Jessee and Allison Mack each pounded 10 kills, Regann Jessee had two blocks Emily Banister notched 14 digs and Ashlynn Bergman served three aces.

C.J. Clausen added seven kills. Rilee Jessee and Keeleigh Kikendall each recorded 11 digs and Banister had two aces.

Columbus Christian rolls

Columbus Christian had little trouble in cruising to a 25-14, 25-9, 25-12 win against Madison Christian.

Sabrina Herron led the Crusaders (13-3) with 10 assists, five aces, three kills and a block. Savannah Herron added four kills, four digs and four aces, and Mayah Schundelmeier eight aces, four kills and one block.

Hannah Stair recorded six digs and eight aces. Michaela Schundelmeier pounded four kills, Morgan Hunnicutt had three digs and one block and Erica Gregg added two kills and one block.

Saints sweep Lancers

INDIANAPOLIS — Edinburgh came closer in each set, but fell 25-6, 25-11, 25-12 at Indianapolis Lutheran.

The Lancers fell to 7-17.

Eagles down Woodmen

NASHVILLE — Brown County needed only three sets to knock off Greenwood 25-16, 25-19, 25-23.

Maggie Redmond led the Eagles (11-5) with 14 service points and five aces.

Cougars fall to Pirates

GREENSBURG — South Decatur came closer in each set, but fell 25-9, 25-14, 25-15 against Greensburg.

Zoey Nobbe pounded five kills, Taylor Best recorded six assists, Sam Goodfellow and Claire Wullenweber each had a block, Karah Biddinger notched 19 digs and Abby Walls served two aces to lead the Cougars (3-18).

Bull Dogs down Shamrocks

WESTFIELD — Columbus North went on the road and picked up a 4-1 victory at Westfield.

The Bull Dogs improved to 10-4-1.

Saints topple Jets

INDIANAPOLIS — Hauser was within 2-1 at halftime, but couldn’t score in the second half of a 3-1 loss at Indianapolis Lutheran.

David Newcomb scored on a penalty kick for the Jets (3-5-2). Will Trotter played his first varsity game in goal and stopped a penalty kick.

Batesville bests Jennings

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County matched Batesville with seven shots, but the Bulldogs claimed a 3-1 victory.

Adrian Miller scored the goal for the Panthers (1-14). Chance Newkirk recorded four saves.

Jets rout Twisters

OLDENBURG — Hauser won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Oldenburg Academy.

Sam Meek beat Michael Wanstroth 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Justin Compton downed Drew Wagner 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Sean Miller topped Will Yeager 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (11-2).

Alex Gross and Jordan Johnson beat Patrick Thompson and Jacob Sheats 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Jacob Rudd and Ethan Wallace downed Ethan Back and Max Giesting 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers shut out Eagles

EDINBURGH — Brown County coach Kevin Roush gave some of his upperclassmen the night off, and Edinburgh won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 victory.

Coltan Henderson beat Aaron McCann 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Ryan Gaston blanked Reid Davis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Bladen Hancock downed Spencer Blee 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (2-12) against the Eagles (2-15).

Edinburgh’s Parker Bryant and Bryce Burton topped Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Gabe Wilson and Brayden McManaway beat Cesar Ruiz and Ethan Maggart 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Spartans top Trinity

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran pulled out a three-set win at No. 2 doubles, but that was all in a 4-1 loss to Southwestern (Shelby).

Avery Schwipps and Noah Voelker beat Connor Rowe and Decklan Pappang 6-4, 7-6, (10-5) at No. 2 doubles for the Cougars (1-13). Bailey Baker fell to Mick Abbott 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Jace Crockett lost to Eric Emerick 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, Matt Stuckwisch fell to Nick Robinson 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles and Pierce McCammon and Hunter Morgan lost to Anthony Atwood and Ryan Brockmahn 6-1, 6-1 No. 1 doubles.

Warriors blank Eagles

NASHVILLE — Whiteland scored nine goals in the first half and went on to hand Brown County a 13-0 defeat.

Skylar Fleishman played the first half in goal and recorded two saves for the Eagles (5-8-1). Hannah Hummel had three saves in the second half.

Trinity runner wins race

PAOLI — Trinity Lutheran’s lone boys runner, AJ Goecker, won the Paoli Invitational in 18:29.

The Cougars had two girls runners. Jodi Goecker finished eighth, and Abby Hildreth was 36th.
