LUMBERTON, Miss. — A Mississippi city has decided to not reappoint its police chief.

Lumberton Alderman Jonathan Griffith tells WDAM-TV , the board voted 5-0 to override Mayor Quincy Rogers’ previous veto to keep Police Chief Elsie Cowart in office. The vote came during a Tuesday night special called meeting. Griffith earlier said the board wanted to go with new leadership.

Cowart had held the post since 2012.

Griffith says Shane Flynn was appointed as the new police chief. Further details were not released.
