ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Authorities say a 24-year-old Rochester man has died from injuries he suffered after he crawled over broken glass from a church window he had shattered.

Rochester police officials say officers responded around early Thursday morning to a report of a man suffering a mental health crisis outside his family’s home. After officers arrived at the scene they went to a nearby church after its alarm sounded.

Officials say the man had used a rock to smash a window, then crawled over jagged glass to get inside. Police say he was bleeding profusely as he ran through the church and exited onto the lawn, where he was restrained until an ambulance arrived.

Police say the man later died at a Rochester hospital. His name isn’t being released.
