BOSTON — Prosecutors say the getaway driver in a more than decade-old shooting in Boston that killed a man and paralyzed another man who later died faces sentencing next week.
The Suffolk district attorney’s office says 34-year-old Carlos Silva is expected to be sentenced Monday after pleading guilty Friday to accessory after the fact to murder.
Prosecutors say Silva was driving one of two vehicles that pursued the victims’ car on April 28, 2003. They say a gunman opened fire from a vehicle, causing the victims’ car to crash. A co-defendant then began shooting at the car.
One of the victims, Jose Daveiga, died of his injuries at a hospital. The other victim, Christopher Carvalho, was left paralyzed and died in 2007 from complications related to his paralysis.
