Students, adults remove weeds from People Trail

Columbus students and community members participated in an event recently to improve the city’s People Trail system by removing weeds.

The Invasive Weed Pull, organized by Art Hopkins and Bartholomew County Indivisible, was conducted from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 on the trail, starting at Mill Race Park.

Students in Columbus North High School’s Environmental Club and students from Columbus Signature Academy – New Tech High School participated, as did adult volunteers, to cut down invasive species along the people trail.

People from different organizations like CNHS Environmental Club, CSA students, Latino-American Organization of Volunteers in Education, and adult volunteers come together to help. Experts provided information on what to cut down or pull out.
