Crime-prevention poster contest about to begin

Bartholomew County elementary-age students are invited to participate in a Crime Prevention Poster Contest sponsored by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.

Students age kindergarten through grade 6 may drop off the posters Oct. 2 to 21 at the Bartholomew County Jail. The posters may also be mailed to Crime Prevention Poster, Bartholomew County Jail, 543 Second St., Columbus, IN 47201-6713. The deadline for submitting a poster is 5 p.m. Oct. 31.

Posters should be on 8½-inch by 11-inch paper and must reflect a crime prevention theme. Pen, pencil, colored pencil, crayon, paint and felt pen may be used. Computer-generated works will be disqualified.

Winners will be selected by members of the sheriff’s department command staff and the winner or winners will be announced on or before Nov. 9. The winning student or students will have their photograph taken with Sheriff Matt Myers and their posters will be displayed in the department’s administrative offices.

Students may submit more than one poster as part of their entry.
