COLUMBUS
Barbara Jean Jones, 86, of Columbus, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
Barbara was born on March 30, 1931, to William Norvel & Alma Lee Woosley Cavnes. She married William L. Jones in November of 1949.
Barbara graduated in 1949 from Shoals High School. She retired from Cummins Engine Company after 25 years of service. She was an Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed reading, board games, country music, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 5 p.m. until the service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include her sons, Rick (Amy Lian) Jones of Indianapolis, IN, Steve (Holly Sonday) Jones of Columbus, IN and Carey Jones of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Jonathan Jones and Steven Jones, both of Columbus, IN; step-grandchildren, Elissa (Isaac) Larrison of St. Paul, IN, Andra (Micah) Irwin of Greensburg, IN; step-great-grandchildren, Isabella, Josephine, William and Claire Larrison.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, William Norvel Cavnes; mother, Alma Lee Wagoner; step-father, John E. Wagoner; daughter, Karen Denise Jones; former husband, William L. Jones.
