LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police are searching for suspects in a slashing attack that left two men in their 20s critically wounded.

Sgt. Frank Baneulos described the weapon only as large and sharp-edged but witnesses tell reporters it was a machete.

Baneulos says the victims suffered multiple lacerations to their torsos in the attack late Sunday. They were upgraded to stable condition after surgeries.

Investigators say the suspects — possibly three of them — fled in a sedan. Officials have not identified a possible motive.
