Ceraland to host fall hoops, volleyball, soccer

Ceraland will host fall indoor basketball, volleyball and soccer leagues.

Basketball will include a Tuesday Corporate League beginning this week and a Wednesday Open League beginning Oct. 18. Cost for each league is $400, with no sports and fitness center fee.

Volleyball will include coed intermediate and competitive leagues, which will be played from 6 to 10 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays beginning Oct. 5. Cost for each league is $80, plus a $5 sports center fee each week for non-annual passholders.

The soccer league will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sundays beginning Oct. 8. Cost is $120 per team, plus a $5 sports center fee each week for non-annual passholders. Roster limit is 12 players.

Table tennis association fall league begins this week

The Columbus Area Table Tennis Association 2017 Fall League will begin Wednesday and continue from 7 to 10 p.m. each Wednesday for eight weeks at Donner Center.

Players of all skill levels are welcome. The season consists of six weeks of open play, culminating in a double-elimination singles tournament, with trophies awarded to the tournament winners.

Basketball league to begin at Columbus East

The Olympian Basketball League will sponsor a league beginning Oct. 1 and will take early signups through Friday for boys in Grades 2 through 6. Grades 2 and 3 will play from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and Grades 4 through 6 will play from 2:30 to 4 p.m. for one Sunday and five Saturdays at Columbus East High School.

Cost is $50 per child and includes a reversible jersey and a basketball. A $10 late fee will be added after Oct. 1.

Registration is available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at Columbus East High School. Brochures are available at the Columbus East athletics office and BCSC Elementary, St. Peter’s, St. Bartholomew, and Columbus Christian schools and can be turned in at East. There is also a registration form through columbusclubelite.org.

Columbus Revolution hosting hoops tryouts

Columbus Revolution tryouts will be Saturday at Columbus North High School for grades 1 to 7.

Grades 1 through 3 will be from 3 to 4 p.m., grades 4 and 5 will be from 4 to 5 p.m., and grades 6 and 7 will be from 5 to 6 p.m.

Grand opening set for rock climbing gym

Columbus Rock Gym will have its grand opening Oct. 3. The gym will have giveaways, prizes and games.

Registration open for Harvest Bicycle Boogie

The Autumn Harvest Bicycle Boogie will be Oct. 7, beginning and ending at the Columbus Learning Center. Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m., and riders may start at anytime after registering.

Bicyclists can pick from rides of 12, 30 or 55 miles. Cost is $25 through Oct. 5 or $30 the day of the event, with proceeds benefiting the IUPUC Alumni Association Scholarship Program.

Volleyball club to conduct parent meeting, tryouts

HAVOC club volleyball will have a parent meeting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in the Hauser High School main gym.

Tryouts will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in the main gym and 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 15 in the fieldhouse for Grades 5 to 8 and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in the main gym and 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 15 in the fieldhouse for Grades 9 to 12.

HAVOC also will conduct a winter camp for Grades K to 4 from Jan 3 to Feb. 28. Cost is $45 and includes a camp shirt and tournament.

Edinburgh hosting fundraising hoops camp

The Trey Moses Basketball Camp, a fundraiser to benefit Best Buddies, will be at Edinburgh Community High School from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 21. The camp was organized by Mariah Weddle, who played for the Lancers and is a sophomore at Franklin College.

Moses, a 6-foot-9 junior on the Ball State men’s basketball team, will lead the camp, which is open to boys and girls of any school age. Cost is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Registration is open until Oct. 7 and forms are available at the parks & recreation offices in both Edinburgh and Franklin.

Harlem Wizards to play local team in Columbus

The Harlem Wizards basketball team will play the Bartholomew County School Foundation Stars, a team of teachers, principals, administrators and community members, at 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at Columbus North High School.

Former Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings and Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. superintendent Jim Roberts will be the coaches. Doors open at 1 p.m.
