IUPUC has college, careers event

A college and careers event for Latino high school students was held at IUPUC earlier this month.

The Sept. 8 event, Exito Latino, brought together 180 students to provide information about career opportunities. Exito Latino was created for Latino high school students from the Columbus and Seymour school districts who are considering their next step after graduating from high school.

“This event allowed our Latino high school students at BCSC the opportunity to learn directly from IUPUC Latino students and other Latino community leaders as they shared their stories about their journeys to achieve their dreams,” said Bill Jensen, director of secondary education with BCSC. “It was truly an inspirational day that highlighted hope, the power of aspirations and the value of education to achieve those dreams.”

Organizers are planning to make Exito Latino an ongoing event for the future, said Belinda Allen, spokeswoman for IUPUC.
