2 injured in head-on collision

HARTSVILLE — Indiana 46 East near Hartsville was closed for about three hours Monday morning after a head-on collision involving three vehicles.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the 19000 block of State Road 46 East at 9:53 a.m. after two drivers became trapped in their vehicles, deputies said.

Michael A. Leszcysnki, 28, of Columbus was entrapped in a Dodge Dakota pickup and August Kinker, 48, of Greensburg, was trapped in a GMC Yukon, deputies said.

The third driver, Gregory P. Hart, 32, of Greensburg, was not injured.

Firefighters extricated the two men from their vehicles, deputies said, and both were transported by medical helicopters to Indianapolis hospitals for treatment. An investigation is continuing into how the accident occurred, deputies said.

Assisting at the scene were the Hope Police Department; Columbus, Hartsville and Columbus Township firefighters and a Columbus Regional Hospital ambulance.
