ACWORTH, Ga. — Police in Acworth say a body found in the backyard of a home has been identified as that of a woman who was reported missing days earlier.

Acworth police told news outlets that the body of 38-year-old Melissa Fisher of Acworth was found by the resident of a home in northern Cobb County.

Police Capt. Mark Cheatham said in a news release that Fisher was reported missing two days before her body was found. She did not live at the home where her body was found.

Cheatham says there were no obvious signs of foul play and it is believed that recent drug use may have contributed to her death.

Acworth is about 33 miles northwest of Atlanta.
