CARBONDALE, Pa. — Rescuers are searching a northeastern Pennsylvania lake for a teenager who was hit by a boat.

The Times-Tribune of Scranton reports ( ) that a dive team and rescuers were called to Newton Lake around 2 p.m.

Capt. Bill White of Dive Rescue Specialists says a 17-year-old girl was on the boat with friends when she fell off and was struck.

Distraught witnesses sobbed on the shoreline as rescuers searched the lake about 20 miles northeast of Scranton.

White says the lake is about 25 feet deep with poor visibility.
