PHOENIX — Documents presented to the Arizona Board of the Regents say Arizona State University is asking for an additional $38.9 million for renovations at the Sun Devil Stadium.

The Arizona Republic reported ( ) Tuesday that the additional money would bring the stadium renovation costs up to $307 million. The university is raising money to pay for the project through private donations, the university athletics district, tickets and sponsorships.

The university is asking for the additional money to add a fourth level to the east side of the stadium so the facility can host programs year-round. Other upgrades include a student athletics building and a running track.

The board will vote on the request Thursday. The renovations are expected to be completed June 2019.
