AUGUSTA, Maine — State police in Maine say a motorcyclist who was involved in a crash in Augusta has died.
Police say the crash occurred on Wednesday morning and also involved a large truck. The crash killed 33-year-old Hallowell resident Edward Lingley, who police say was traveling at a high rate of speed while exiting Interstate 95.
Police say Lingley’s motorcycle slid on a sharp curve and struck the trailer of a tractor trailer in the opposite lane. The driver of the tractor trailer wasn’t injured.
The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety says it was the eighth motorcycle death this month on Maine roads. There have been 19 motorcycle deaths in the state this year.
Police say the crash shut down on-ramps to I-95 in the area of Western Avenue on Wednesday morning.
