NEW YORK — New York City firefighters say a man is dead after a fire tore through a two-story vacant home in Queens.

The man was pulled from the home as firefighters began dousing the flames around 10 p.m. Tuesday. The Fire Department of New York says the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire was under control in about an hour.

The victim’s identity has not been released, and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

A medical examiner will determine the man’s cause of death.
