MONTPELIER, Vt. — The owner of a former Vermont restaurant that has been shuttered for years has agreed to tear it down and avoid fines.
The former Brown Derby restaurant in Montpelier has been the subject of numerous complaints from neighbors who called it an eyesore. WCAX-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2frseSC ) it was the driving force behind a new city ordinance that aimed to allow the city to fine owners of blighted properties.
City officials say the owners of the building agreed to demolish the former restaurant on their own accord. Last week, Montpelier officials approved a demolition permit.
