Jets topple Pirates

GREENSBURG — Class A No. 2 Hauser bounced back from a first-set defeat to rally for a 25-27, 25-21, 25-10, 25-19 win Wednesday night at Greensburg.

Madie Sherman pounded 16 kills and five blocks, and Alana Owen recorded 47 assists and four aces to lead the Jets (24-3). Sydney Schoen notched 32 digs.

Schoen also had 14 kills, three blocks and two aces; and Sarah Tedder added nine kills, 29 digs and two aces. Taylor Henderson pounded five kills and four blocks, Kylie Lock tallied an assist and 13 digs, Melanie Taylor contributed nine digs and Megan Swinford had one assist.

Cubs sweep Lancers

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh came closer in each set, but fell to Franklin 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 in the first round of the Johnson County Tournament.

The Lancers fell to 8-18.

GIRLS SOCCER

East JV tops Eagles

Elena Stoughton and Abby Miller each scored two goals to lead the Columbus East junior varsity to a 5-0 win against the Brown County varsity.

Gretchen Cromer scored the other goal for the Olympians (7-2-2). Miller and Catherine Wolf each had one assist.

East outshot the Eagles (6-10-1) 16-2, putting eight on goal to none for Brown County. Erin McIntyre posted the shutout.

BOYS SOCCER

Jets tie Hornets

HOPE — Paul Cordero scored two goals to lead Hauser to a 3-3 tie with Henryville.

Caleb Carnine had the other goal for the Jets (3-6-3), who were outshot 12-10. Kameron Lawson recorded nine saves.

Panthers down Warriors

SCOTTSBURG — Adrian Miller netted two goals and two assists to lead Jennings County to a 5-3 win at Scottsburg.

Dalton Craig, Keagan Craig and Dylan Boswell all added goals for the Panthers (2-15). Dalton Craig notched two assists, and Jaydan Vanosdol had one assist.

Chance Newkirk posted seven saves.

Pirates oust Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Greensburg blanked Jennings County 5-0 in the opening round of the Jennings Sectional.

Weston Miller fell to Kyle Sellers 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Thomas Schuler lost to Trevor Foster 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and Wyatt St. John fell to Brett Stringer 5-7, 6-3, (10-7) at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (6-9).

Jennings’ Justin Gasper and Kent Biehle lost to Logan Smith and Ben Duerstock 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Cody St. John and Briar Davis fell to Tucker Bailey and Sam Bower 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
