NEW ORLEANS — Authorities say a body found wrapped in garbage bags has been identified as a woman who was reported missing.

Nola.com/The Times-Picayune reports New Orleans police confirmed Tuesday that the remains of 55-year-old Lisa Gray were found on Sept. 19. Gray was reported missing on Sept. 17 and was last seen by family members on Sept. 2.

Authorities say Gray’s body was found near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Old Gentilly Road, which was about a block from where she lived.

NOPD spokesman Aaron Looney says police will investigate Gray’s remains as an unclassified death, pending a determination of a cause of death by the coroner’s office.
