Police: Pair jailed for armed robbery

Two people were arrested after a robbery in the parking lot of a local business.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Erik Peetz, 25, of 2880 Catalina St., and Haley Burton, 19, of 1119 Eighth St., on a charge of robbery while armed with a deadly weapon Tuesday, deputies said.

According to the sheriff’s department, the victim had arranged to meet with Burton, who was a friend, at the parking lot. When the two met, Peetz, who had been hiding in the back seat of Burton’s car, came out with a large tire tool and threatened the target with it, deputies said.

Peetz and Burton are accused of taking the victim’s cash, cellphone and shoes, deputies said. The sheriff’s department worked with Columbus police officers to find Burton and Peetz on Tuesday night, deputies said.
