COLUMBIA, S.C. — A 17-year-old South Carolina teen has been charged with murder in the beating death of his father’s girlfriend.

The State of Columbia reports the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said in a release that the charge stems from Leona Monique Pack’s Sept. 13 death following an argument involving Pack and the teen’s father and brother.

Pack’s body was discovered in a trash area by a tire store employee on Sept. 20.

Sheriff’s spokesman Curtis Wilson says alcohol was involved in the argument, which was sparked by Pack’s alleged inappropriate advance toward the teen’s brother in the presence of his father.

Wilson said the teen is accused of hitting Pack multiple times in the upper body with a metal object after learning of the argument.

It’s unclear if the teen has a lawyer.
